It was the night of the trio who went to Tokyo this summer and performed groovy 4-night shows at Blue Note Tokyo. As Akiko talked during the set, Will and Chris are acutally her long time friends since back in the 70's... but they had never played together live in NYC until now.
When this trio's trip to Tokyo was confirmed, Akiko suggested to do a show in NYC as well. Why not?! That was how this happened.
It seemed they were getting the momentum. Everytime they played together, they were getting tight in sound and funkier. Fun, fun, fun.

Nov.18 (Le) Poisson Rouge

They had played together as duo last year in Japan, but never performed together in NYC. Also this was the first appearance of Akiko at LPR. She loves this place as much as Joe's Pub. She loves the fact that LPR is even closer to her neighborhood. Their duo performance can be heard on the CD which is included in the latest DVD package. Unfortunately the DVD is available only in Japan so far... the DVD is in version 1... Nov.18 was a rare chance to enjoy their gig and a sort of preview of the duo part of the upcoming SATOGAERU tour.
With Mark, Akiko always seems to be enjoying pushing the envelop further and broader. The music continued to grow as it changes its quantity and quality of taste, flavor and texture. Their interaction was so colorful and playful. What a thrill to watch them!
